August 4, 2010The secret to successfully freezing blueberries is to use unwashed completely dry berries. Discard bruised or shriveled berries. Place the berries in a re-sealable plastic bag. Or, transfer berries to freezer containers or re-sealable freezer bags. The berries will freeze individually and you can remove just the portio…n you need. August 3, 2010Did you know that long before Europeans arrived in the New World, North American Indian tribes gathered a variety of wild sapphire-colored berries as a food staple? They called these berries “star berries” because of the star-shaped calyx on top of each berry. Today, we call these berries “blueberries.” Source: US Highbush Blueberry Council.
