Blueberry Packing Center Opens in Hawthorne, Fla.

Blueberry consumption has skyrocketed in recent years as consumers learn of new health discoveries, and farmers are adding more acres in response to the demand.

To help Florida growers cut down on paying for freight and labor to truck their blueberries to be distributed to markets around the world, a 27,000-square-foot blueberry packing and distribution center has been built north of Hawthorne off U.S. 301.
